Eliza has been in a toddler bed since she was 18 months old, but now shares a room with Sebastian and as their toy collections grow ever larger, we were seriously running out of room so we made the decision to buy her a mid-sleeper bed.
I have been looking online for weeks, but being on a budget we couldn’t afford the ones we wanted and even the ones on eBay were way beyond our reach.
Thankfully the lovely Tattooed Mummy saw one of my twitter updates moaning about the silly money these beds were going for and told me she was selling her daughters old one. We struck a deal and then I headed off to sunny Worthing to collect it, popping in to embarrass Callan as work whilst I was there!
Upon arriving home it was clear Eliza wasn’t going to wait another day to go into her new bed, so I tried to contain her excitement whilst Hubby and Kian got to work in her bedroom.
A couple of weeks previously we were offered a Dormeo mattress to review.
I choose the Dormeo Memory Silver which has a revolutionary new cover incorporating real silver fibres. Silver has long been recognised as a remarkable natural antibiotic and, weaved into the mattress cover in combination with Sanitized® protection, it offers amazing anti-bacterial, anti-static and anti-odour properties – perfect for a child’s bed.
The Dormeo memory foam mattress has a super-thick Ecocell® and memory foam core, with an extra plush Silver cover for maximum comfort, support and protection. Ecocell is a trademarked foam with 3D open cell structure designed to work in unison with Dormeo memory foam. 2cm of Dormeo’s high quality visco-elastic memory foam sits on a 18cm layer of Ecocell® foam, all surrounded by a luxury cover which incorporates real silver fibres and Sanitized® protection.
I have to admit I was a little shocked when I saw it – it looked like a mattress topper rather than a mattress but I was reassured that it was vacuumed packed and it would spring back into its normal size when we unwrapped it.
It returned to its proper shape and size within minutes and Eliza was eager to climb in and try out her new bed. Just look at her face.
I am not sure if it is the new big girl bed effect, or if the mattress is more comfortable than her previous one but she is definitely sleeping better.
The next plan is to make her her tent and toy hammock for her countless teddies so she has some play space under her bed.
Dormeo have some fabulous offers on at the moment and if you are in the market for a new mattress I can highly recommend memory foam as its so comfortable!
We got one of these to review and I had the same reaction as you when it arrived, it looked so thin!! 🙂 impressively it inflated by itself within minutes and it’s a lovely mattress.
I had to email her and check – mattresses have always been huge cumbersome things in the past!
Wow that looks fantastic! I can’t believe how small it comes, but then looks totally normal on the bed. Her room looks lovely x
I am actually looking for a new mattress so I am off to check out their website now!
looks like she loves her new bed! we all need new mattresses…. sounds expensive 😉
She looks happy enough with her bed x
We’re after a new mattress for my 12 y/o so I’ll definitely bear this in mind!
Thanks x
We used to have a mid sleeper bed. They are perfect for smaller rooms and offer so much storage.
Love the sound of this mattress! It’s such an important thing to get right, your a long time asleep 🙂
