CYBEX adds life and love to award-winning car seats, strollers and baby carriers for growing families worldwide.
CYBEX are passionate about safety, simplicity and comfort – and along the way, they make sure their user-friendly products never compromise on exceptional design. After all, why should ‘safe’ have to be boring? On planet CYBEX they know that only when you have the very best are you really free to have fun.
That’s probably why CYBEX has won more Which? Best Buy awards than any other car seat manufacturer – because the simpler, safer and more stylish they make their products, the more fun we can all have.
I have been hunting high and low for a isofix car seat for Eliza for months, but none were quite right.
I wanted one that would grow with her and not feel to babyish, so when were sent the CYBEX Solution Q-FIX to review I hoped that this would be the one.
The colour won Eliza over straight away and although it required some assembly, it took less than two minutes to clip it together and another minute to install it in the car. It even comes with a handy red to green indicator to let you know the ISOFIX clips are installed correctly on the anchorage points.
The one thing that worries me about buying an ISOFIX car seat is that you cannot use them in cars without ISOFIX connections, like my daughters. The Solution Q-Fix solves this as the connectors can easily be folded away, so that the seat is also compatible with cars not equipped with ISOFIX – bonus!
The innovative Solution Q-fix combines the many years of experience of a successful Group 2/3 car seat family. The interaction of the patented, reclining headrest that prevents the dangerous tipping forward of the head during sleep, and an optimised Linear Side-impact Protection (L.S.P. System Plus) ensures the highest level of safety and comfort.
A new automatic height and width adjustment allows for a flexible and optimal alignment of the car seat to the child’s size and a new air ventilation system guarantees a comfortable seating temperature even on hot days.
One of the things I wanted was a headrest that would allow Eliza to sleep comfortably and not allow her head to fall forward. The reclining headrest on the Solution Q-Fix does this and gently guides Eliza’s head into a safe position when she is asleep. The head and neck area are protected in a side-impact collision, as it remains in the car seat’s safety zone created out of head and side protectors. Besides improving passive safety, the patented headrest also ensures a comfortable sleeping position.
In order to provide the best possible protection and comfort for the entire duration of use, the CYBEX Solution Q-fix car seat features an integrated height and width adjustment. With a one-handed mechanism and 11 adjustment possibilities, the height and width of the seat can be adjusted simultaneously and the seat can grow up to 8 cm in width and up to 20 cm in height so it will grow with your child until they no longer need a carseat.
The air ventilation system has ensured that Eliza has been cool and comfortable, even through the hot summer. The only thing I need them to invent is a something to stop her taking her arm out the seatbelt, but then my little houdini can wriggle out of a 5-point harness too!
I love this car seat so much that I am buying it and one for Isaac too!
I’ve never heard of Cybex before and I have two young children. Where have I been hiding all this time?!
Sounds great. Fab that it is so adjustable x
This looks pretty cool, although I was distracted by the absolutely gorgeous pics. Fab smile!!
The adjustable head rest is a winner in my books. My children always fall asleep with their head flopping forward.
That looks (and sounds) like an excellent seat option for the age range. So many wonderful new kids products since I was needing them!
Sounds like a great car seat. My boys are still in high backed booster seats at eight and nine
Ooo I’m off to find out more about there, I need new ones for Oz and Kitty soon!
this looks like a great car seat, will keep it in mind for the new baby when he’s bigger!
That looks like a great car seat and I love the colour! I haven’t heard of Cybex before but will definitely keep an eye out for them in the future.
This looks like a great car seat and it’s good to hear that it’s ventilated so that kids don’t get too hot.
Loving the reclining headrest! What a brilliant and much needed idea.
Since I’m not in the market for carseats these days, I know nothing – but this looks like the future!
This looks so much better and much more comfy than some of the ones my friends have for their children x
Sounds and looks like a great carseat! My son hated to sit in his. The only way he would be quiet was if he was listening to Barney. We knew all the songs by heart, lol
Your review has come just in time. We are on the lookout for the next stage up for my son. Thanks for sharing.
This looks great – I love how comfortable it obviously is from the photo of her asleep…so cute!
wow love the colour, I’ve never heard of this brand before! x
Love the look of the seat and idea but wow they are expensive!
What a beautiful little girl you have. 🙂
I love this HBB, it’s one of my favourites for the very same reasons you state.
I know you probably know this, but I just want to say to you, from one mum to another that if she’s under 18 kg (40lb) and still fits her Group 1 car seat, I would go back to using that. That she gets her arms out is fixable with for example a very good thing called the “5 – point plus”, which is both crash tested and also ECE R44.04 legislation approved.
I am sure, because you mention it, that you know how incredibly dangerous it is for anyone to put their shoulder belt under their arm or behind their back. The fact that she does this tells me that she’s not old enough to sit in a High Back Booster, because she’s not following the rules that apply to such a grown up seat. The same goes for leaning side to side, reaching for toys and so forth, all are dangerous, and why you want to wait as long as possible before you upgrade to the next stage in car seats. One step up is one step down in safety.
I don’t know how old your little girl is, but children under 4 years old can not have optimal safety in a HBB (high back booster) because their Iliac Crest is not wide enough to hold the lap belt steady across the belt in a collision, even with the belt guide, increasing the risk of “submarining”.
If this is the only solution you have in the car (i.e she’s in fact outgrown her proper car seat)then there isn’t much you can do other than take the proper precautions making sure she is sitting still and not touching her seat belt. We call it booster training, because in most cases that’s what you do need to do with the children when they go into this stage car seat.
This is a really good video that explains in detail all you need to know about proper booster use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFKSXvFHRMk&list=UUJVS8j7PauELRbhJbR1KtFQ
This has turned into such a long post, I really must apologise. Please look into it, from one mum to another, I just couldn’t bare your child getting hurt because of something you maybe weren’t aware of and because I didn’t say anything.
