The day has finally arrived……..
Kian is back to school, but a day in front of his peers…….
Why?
He is off to Paris (and then Disneyland) on a school trip.
We bought his new uniform and school shoes at the beginning of last week, but upon checking his school bag I panicked slightly when I discovered it was literally falling to bits.
Being a teenager, Kian has a very clear idea about what he does and doesn’t want these days and I knew there was no way I could pick him up a bag from a supermarket, so with trepidation we began searching online for his perfect bag.
I was quite surprised by the huge range of school bags at JD Sports and he soon made his choice, which (don’t tell him) was really sensible. A word of warning though – don’t let a teenage boy loose with their back to school range as he soon found a pair of trainers that he wanted to add to the basket and armed with the knowledge that he had in fact gone up a shoe size and needed a new pair they were soon added too!
I was worried that I had left it too late, but thankfully they arrived yesterday and Kian loaded the back with all the equipment that he wanted to take. We were both surprised by how big the bag was, but he soon filled it and I know he will be able to carry all his GCSE books in it safely.
At 3am this morning our alarms went off. A quick cup of tea later, we were in the car and heading to school for the meeting time of 4am………..ouch!
Last time he went away with the school, all us parents hung around and waited for the coach to go, but this time was different – the group were all independent teens and insisted that we leave them to it.
I waited in the car for ten minutes, but it was clear that he was happy with his friends as they excitedly spoke to each other about their impending trip abroad, so I left them to it under strict instructions he had to text me when they got to Dover.
We have been training him in the art of photography over the weekend so I am hoping that we get some good pictures of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, although I suspect that there will be more of him and his friends goofing about. I can’t believe how grown up he looks, and that he is going to Paris before me!
I hope he has an amazing time! My teen lets me choose his stuff, but he oversees my decisions. Like I haven’t got enough to do 😉
I love that jump, I need one x
My teen has insisted on a tiny man-bag for college. Time will tell if it’s large enough. I hope Kian has a fab time in Paris.
What a great trip for him to be making – fingers crossed he gets some good shots!
Lucky boy being off to Paris. We got the boys all black trainers so they can wear them for school. They would not be allowed the pair K has! DO come and join in with my back to school link up
Wow what a great school trip! Let’s hope your photography skills have worn off on him x
hope he has a great school trip – and you get some good photos to see!
Hope he has a fabulous time – I’ve only been to Paris once and it was a flying visit many years ago. Definitely one for the future! Like his choice of trainers too 🙂
I went to Paris when I was at school. I daren’t pick out a school now on my own for the kids and the youngest is 3!
I cant believe the holidays are over so quickly, probably quicker for me having no children!
Hope he has a lovely time! Love those trainers!
We never did anything like that right at the start of the school year, how exciting! I hope he has a wonderful time 🙂
