Bug Safari

Eliza is obsessed with bugs at the moment!

You will often find her in the garden with a woodlouse, letting it run up and down her arm before being fascinated as it curls up in a ball.

At the school fete last week Isaac was busy looking at all the lovely fluffy rabbits and guinea pigs whereas Eliza prefered the stick insects, cockroaches and snakes!  You certainly isn’t Mummy’s Girl!

We were sent the Interplay Bug Safari to review.

The kit provides the kids with easy to use, professional quality equipment which enables them to catch, study and identify common mini-beasts in gardens, in parks or in the countryside. There is a full colour booklet on how to use the equipment, and charts to help identify the creatures caught.

Isaac and Eliza adored going on a bug safari in the back garden and discovering the amazing bugs that lurk in the undergrowth.

The first mini-beast they caught was a snail which had beautiful swirly markings, almost as if someone had painted them on.  The studies it for ages before hunting for the next creature.

They really wanted to see a spider – I hate spiders, but the tongs are brilliant for catching one without having to get too close……they are on hand in the house now.

We have been using the set a lot and have even found a grasshopper and a cricket – we are taking it out with us next time we go to Linford Bottom as there are a host of mini-beasts there to see.
