Just before the Easter holiday’s, the lovely team at Nintendo sent us a very special surprise.
The boys were delighted that this surprise came in chocolate form and were intrigued by what was inside.
Being a cruel Mummy, I made them wait until Easter……….
but it was well worth the wait!
Inside the egg was ………..
YOSHI!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were also senf Yoshi’s New Island for the 3DS to try which is the first installment in this series since Yoshi’s Island DS was released in 2006.
I thought Kian (13) might be too old to enjoy this game but he adores it. He has been busy training Isaac how to complete the levels too.
Yoshi’s good old Flutter Jump, Ground Pound moves come with his egg-throwing return, along with new abilities and challenges that take advantage of the features of the Nintendo 3DS.
The game tells the story of Yoshi taking baby Mario to find his brother Luigi, who has been taken by the evil wizard. It is a fun platform game that keeps you entertained with its bright colours and cool moves. Yoshi can even change into items such as a hot air balloon and kart.
You can use massive eggs called Mega-Eggs to destroy blocks and pipes, revealing secrets such as coins and hidden keys. The more things you destroy, the higher the Mega-Egg gauge goes, netting you extra lives in the process! The beautiful art is based on many classic styles, such as oil painting, watercolours and crayon drawings.
Using the Nintendo 3DS system’s gyro sensor functionality and the new binocular ability, players can move the system around to uncover hidden areas as well as better aim Mega Egg throws which keeps older players like Kian interested in the game.
The only thing Kian would have added is some better hints as he got stuck on one level and couldn’t figure out how to get past it.
We give this game a 4/5
