Introducing the Silver Cross Reflex

We have been lucky enough to be able buy a new (to us) car recently.  I have been desperate for a seven seat car since Sebastian was born as any trip anywhere involving the whole family meant we had to take two cars.  After much research we found that seven seat MPV’s do not have any boot space when all seven seats are in use which is very frustrating when you are still using a pram / pushchair.  Much as we tried to squeeze our current pram in the boot it soon became clear that we would need a stroller / umbrella style pushchair.

I started researching strollers on the internet and came across the new Silver Cross Reflex.  The thing that first jumped out at me were the striking colours and the central LED lighting system – I am a sucker for a gadget!

When I looked into it further I discovered that the pushchair can be used as rearward facing from birth (with the newborn pack), can be used as a travel system with the Silver Cross Simplicity Car Seat and has a fully extendable hood with a UPF 50+ sun protection factor.  Also coming with a generous multi-position seat and a buggy liner that can be removed for easy cleaning – I was sold.

The Silver Cross Reflex arrived boxed and required minimal assembly.  I simply attached the wheels, buggy liner, hood and strap covers and it was done.  It didn’t take me longer than ten minutes.

It folds like a typical umbrella buggy and the bumper bar and seat liner remain attached when folded.  It also comes with a deep padded showerproof apron and a rain cover.  The buggy does fold with the apron attached however it does make it slightly bulkier and I have found that I need to remove the apron to fit it in my boot when all seven seats are in use.

The Silver Cross Reflex has an ultra light chassis built with the highest grade aluminium.  It is a breeze to push, even one handed, and has adjustable handles so if you are tall or have a tall partner they can adjust to a height that suits them.

I am confident that Sebastian is comfortable and happy in the stroller.  We have explored London, the beach and Legoland so far with no issues or grumbles at all.

Sebastian is a big boy and at 9 months old weighs almost 22lbs.  He was fast outgrowing his old car seat and hated travelling in the car as he was so cramped.  I have also been looking into the next stage for him, however because he is not quite sitting confidently he isn’t ready for forward facing just yet.  Silver Cross were kind enough to send me the Simplicity car seat to road test alongside the Reflex.

I have never had an Isofix car seat before as our old car didn’t have the points……..it is amazing!  So easy to install and I am happy that Sebastian is safe and secure and there is no more faffing with seat beats.  The best bit though is that it is suitable from birth until baby is 29lbs (approx 15 months).  With research showing that babies are safest in rearward facing car seats I am confident that I don’t have to buy another car seat for a few more months at least.

Silver Cross Simplicity features superior side impact protections to help keep your little one safe, and has been designed with generous internal space to accommodate your growing baby.  Sebastian has plenty of room and since using this car seat we have had relaxed car journeys again as he is comfortable.  It also features an easy to adjust five point harness and a height adjustable head support.  For tiny babies it also comes complete with a comfort wedge for newborns plus a head support and thick padded harness pads which keep your baby comfortable whilst travelling.  The car seat also comes with a hood and apron for extra comfort.

Silver Cross Reflex / Simplicity

To attach the car seat to the buggy to convert it to a travel system you simply remove the bumper bar and insert the pushchair adapters in the slot on each side.  The car seat simply lifts onto these adapters which keep it secure.  To remove, you push the same buttons you need to remove from the isofix base and lift the car seat off – simple!

The Silver Cross Reflex is the perfect choice if you are after a versatile lightweight buggy that doesn’t take up much room.  I must remember not to hang too many bags off the back though!

  1. A light system? How things are so different these days!!!!!!

If hubs and I ever have a baby, it’s going to be a minefield with all the gadgets and do-hickeys that modern buggies have these days – nothing like 1999!! xx

  2. It looks like a great stroller. We have spent all weekend looking for a 7 seater and totally agree about the lack of boot space, it’s very frustrating isn’t it?

  3. That’s a great review Kara and superb photos too. Sounds like a great buggy and Sebastian looks happy as well! We could attach the car seat to our buggy and did when POD was a baby, it makes such a difference 🙂
