A break in the rain!

The weather has been appalling over the last week so if we spot a sunny interval we are out that door like a shot and after a wonderful Christmas of freedom at Coombe Mill the kids are not happy being couped up indoors.

We headed to sunny Christchurch last week to feed the ducks (probably the only ones enjoying this weather) and have some fun at the park.  We were stunned by the wreckage left by the floods and the fact the water was almost right up to the wall in places.

We decided to walk along the river and feed the ducks where the Seagulls were less likely to pounce.  Eliza however decided sitting on the front of the pram was the best way to travel.

The ducks didn’t appear to be interested in food at all.

The swans were a little more interested but we did end up coming home with bread.

Abbey was worried about her boyfriend Paul falling in though!
We love Christchurch as it is such a picturesque place to go for a walk, with the historic Priory…….

The ruins of Christchurch Castle…….

which look so pretty any time of the year.

The kids love to climb the castle and roll back down the hill

but as it was so muddy they took the steps instead.

I was kicking myself for forgetting the rotten fruit to throw at them in the stocks (I am kidding – honest)!

We had some face pulling fun by one of the statues…….

and then hitting the park, where Sebastian got a real thrill from the swings!

Isaac drew lots of attention as he was dressed in his Mr Incredible outfit.

He made sure he put all the different things to do to the test…..

and seemed to favour those that spun!

Whilst Eliza preferred to hog the remaining swing!

As I write this the sad thing is that all of this is back under water again thanks to the floods.

  1. We are lucky to escape the devastation of the floods here at Coombe Mill and I feel so sorry for those who’s homes have been affected in the uk. It looks like you chose a good day to visit picturesque Christchurch and the photos show what a fun time the children had. Isaac looks fab in his costume and I love the smiles from Eliza and Sebastian on the swings. Thanks for linking up and joining in with the fun at Country Kids.

  2. You pictures are lovely.
We luckily escaped the flooding but the wind has been horrendous. There are fence panels all over the estate at the moment!

  3. Wonderful post and photos Kara – sounds like you’ve been having lots of outdoor fun recently! Aside from that last one obviously, the flooding has been dreadful. The river near us has burst its banks again but we’re luckily higher up 🙂

  11. Thank god for the breaks in the rain, being cooped up with little ones is not good. Love that picture on the swings, such joy on his little face. Love the picture of the ducks also.
