Sofia the First Soundtrack Review

When Sofia’s mum marries the king, she’s whisked off to the castle, where she learns what it means to be a real princess. Sofia discovers empowering lessons about kindness, forgiveness, generosity, and self-respect. Classic Princesses, make special appearances to lend their words of wisdom to Sofia. Through this journey, Sofia discovers that looking like a princess isn’t all that hard, but behaving like one must come from the heart.
The TV series, aimed at kids ages 2-7, features a voice cast that includes Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as Sofia, Sara Ramirez (Grey’s Anatomy) as Queen Miranda, Wayne Brady (Let’s Make a Deal) as Clover and Tim Gunn (Project Runway) as Baileywick.

The series has storylines that not only teach children to do what is right, but feature some of their favourite Disney Princess characters, both Jasmine (Aladdin) and Cinderella have had starring roles.  Disney Jr also feature songs in between their shows featuring the Sofia the First characters, which they have now made into a soundtrack.

We love watching the songs on Disney Jr but I was unsure how this would transfer across as the cartoon elements make them funny and entertaining to watch, however, Eliza loved the album and was soon telling me which song belonged to which cartoon.  The Trolls are her favourite and Isaac likes Cedric the Great!!

The music itself is typical Disney, with a couple of more modern sounding songs thrown in. I found a few of the songs sound very similar to those in Aladdin.
