It is that time of year again – the car insurance is due!
My husband is fab at organising and re-organising furniture, room layouts and cupboards but infuriatingly lazy at other things – one of them being cars!
He just doesn’t take an interest at all, as long as a car gets him from A to B he is happy. He dithers about getting the service done, has to be reminded (several times) when his MOT and tax is due, but insurance is a whole new ball game.
He will receive the renewal notice for car insurance and will just let it renew – no questions asked. He won’t challenge the company for a better quote, and just doesn’t have the time to phone different companies for new quotes.
This year, enough is enough! I am taking control.
By doing a car insurance comparison I reduced our car insurance by half – yes half!! That is a whole £270 in our pockets and not the insurance company, and that is with better benefits too!! Not only that, it took me all of 10 minutes to fill in the form on the website and and get the insurance from Tesco.
It is not just for older, more established drivers either! Even those in the trade need Motor Trade Insurance and 19 year old daughter, who has been driving around 18 months and was astonished when, after no claims or accidents, her insurance increased by over £300 to £1200 a year.
Again we saved almost half, and reduced her insurance premium to £676 for the year, again with better benefits than her current policy. When phoning to see if her current company could match it, they couldn’t and admitted defeat!
With the credit crunch still biting at our heels and households trying to save more money than ever, it is really worth 10 minutes of your time to see if you could get a better deal.
