Popchips – A review

I am a massive fan of savoury snacks, preferring them to sweets and chocolate so when I heard that Popchips  were looking for reviewers I was snapping at their heels!

What are Popchips?
They never baked, never fried!  The potato chips are popped like Popcorn!
They claim to have all the flavour and less than half the fat of fried crisps and whats more – each serving is less than 100 calories!  You can read more about the process here.
They sent me a box full of different flavours – Barbecue, Original, Sour Cream & Onion and Salt and Pepper.

What we thought:
Firstly, the bags they come in are the same size as a normal crisp packet, so you’d have no problem fitting them into a lunch box.  The packet feels luxurious too – you know you are getting something good straight away.
The Popchips are slightly thicker than normal fried crisps, and give a very satisfying crunch when bitten into.  They are also absolutely delicious!!
My favourite was the Salt & Pepper as they gave a satisfying kick of spice, but there wasn’t a flavour I didn’t like.  The kids all loved them too, including Eliza who seemed to know when Mummy had opened a packet even if she was in the garden!

They do them in large 85g packs too – so perfect for sharing (if you want to).

The only thing I am slightly disappointed at is that they are not yet available in any of the big four supermarkets.  Luckily I live fairly close to Waitrose who currently have them on special offer.  You can save 1/3 at the moment on a large 85g back, now £1.26 instead of £1.89.  The smaller 23g bags are 69p.  Other stockists include Costco, WHSmiths and Amazon, but a list of them all can be found here.
