What we are watching on Netflix!

Being the parent of 20 somethings and teens, we are quite up together on technology and new things, but I have to admit we were very late to the Netflix party.

We finally discovered it at the beginning of last year after hearing rave reviews about Orange is the New Black and we haven’t looked back since. We even made the decision to ditch our Virgin TV package.

I am stupidly excited that we have been asked to be part of the Netflix #StreamTeam for 2017/2018 and will be bringing you exclusive news and content before anyone else.

What is Netflix?

Netflix is a streaming service that allows you to watch a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, documentaries and more on thousands of Internet-connected devices. With Netflix, you can enjoy unlimited viewing of our content without having to watch a single advert and what’s more, it doesn’t cost the earth either.

Sometimes, you may find that certain shows are region-dependant, which – if you’re determined enough – could require some action, or in most cases, a VPN. These have become increasingly popular for viewers in the UK trying to watch US-based shows or vice versa. Makeawebsitehub compiled a list of VPNs to try – read the full article here if you’re considering using one.

Our Netflix journey started with Orange is the New Black and I love that you can binge watch a whole series, rather than having to wait a week for the next episode. I cannot believe we have just finished season 5.

OITNB

Hubby and I are both fans of comic book inspired shows and our next series was Jessica Jones which featured David Tennant as the superb super-baddie, Kilgrave.

Kilgrave

This then led to us watching Daredevil, Constantine, Luke Cage and Iron Fist which we both enjoyed and are all inter-linked. The ultimate cross-over show, The Defenders, comes to Netflix on 18th August, so we are eagerly awaiting that to start.

Our current series is a longer one and we are devouring Designated Survivor starring Kiefer Sutherland.

Having watched every season of 24, we are huge fans of Kiefer and although he plays President Tom Kirkman in this series, there is still quite a bit of Jack Bauer still in him.

The plot:

On the night of the State of the Union, an explosion claims the lives of the President and everyone in the presidential line of succession, except for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Tom Kirkman, who had been named the designated survivor.

Designated Survivor

The series shows how Tom Kirkman struggles with the job of being thrown into presidency whilst the FBI tries to uncover the conspiracy theory behind the Capitol explosion. We are on episode 11 of 22 so far and my only grumble with it is that they say “With all due respect” far too often.

Netflix isn’t just for the adults either. There are thousands of children’s shows to watch. Isaac is currently watching The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Eliza loves watching all the old episodes of Dr Who and Sebastian watches Ninjago over and over again.

  1. I was a HUGE fan of Dexter – and gutted when I finished all the series. Have watched The Good Wife and just started Homeland. I tend to start watching popular shows a few years after everyone else. As a family we love choosing movies on Netflix too. I just wish Netflix had Game of Thrones!

  2. I love OITNB this is the only problem though, by the time you watch the new series in less than a week you have to wait a year again! I am rewatching Gilmore Girls on Netflix (even though I have it on DVD!) and have a whole list of things to watch …

  3. I’ve heard some really good things about Orange Is The New Black – and I’m a fan of that sort of programme. But I don’t have Netflix so will have to wait until it’s available on Sky! x
