The Christmas tradition in our house is definitely breaking out the games.
From making a fool of ourselves singing karaoke, dancing like we have no inhibitions or the more traditional board games, you can guarantee you will hear roars of laughter from our house over the Christmas break – just perhaps not when Dr Who is on!
I feel like we are a year late with this one, but Abbey has bought Pie Face and cannot wait to break it out after our Christmas dinner.
Just load the throwing arm with delicious squirty cream or even a wet sponge and wait for the tension to build. You must hold your nerve and keep your fingers crossed – because this is one game where you don’t want to end up splat on your face!
The game that I am bringing to the table is Wet Head. Fill Wet Head with cold water, strap on the water filled Wet Head, spin the top and pull out any one of the rods. If you stay dry, pass Wet Head to the next player.
It does recommend you put less water in it for indoor play, however with my three eldest, competitive children in the house, this may not be the case. I will just have some extra towels on standby.
For the younger children we have Pickin’ Chickens from Drumond Park which has a ‘Spinning Top’, ‘Jack in The Box’ Fox and ‘Open and Reveal’ Chicken Coops, Pickin’ Chickens has all the classic favourite themes.
The kids take it in turns to spin the chicken field where twelve chicken coops nestle among the bushes. When it stops spinning each child lifts up a coop to reveal an image of a coloured chicken – or if they are lucky a Farmer and if they collect four chickens in the same colour they win.
Also from Drumond Park we shall be playing the Crazy Claw which I know Sebby will especially love as he adores his claw toy.
Players take turns to use the ‘Giant Claw Grabber’ to catch a coloured ball. Once a ball is caught they open it up to see what image is on the token inside. The first player to collect tokens that match the pictures of the three prizes shown on their prize card is the winner!
My final game is one that comes out every year without fail and is a family favourite – Uno!
I think we have every variation of the game that has ever come out, but the best thing about it, is it is easy to play and every member of the family can join in – even 3 year old Sebby.
The aim of the game is to be the first player to score 500 points, by getting rid of all the cards in your hand before your opponents. You score points for all the cards left in your opponents hands.
Do you play games at Christmas – which are your favourite?
Wow so good games, personally i like them all. I love to buy Crazy Claw and Pickin’ Chickens for my children. Thank you for sharing 🙂
Oh I absolutely love pie face it is totally hysterical and I am usually the one to be splatted!
