Baltic Amber Teething Necklace Review

Baltic Amber Teething Necklace

I have been a fan of using Amber anklets / necklaces since discovering their supposed analgesic properties when Isaac was a baby. Wearing an amber necklace seemed to help ease his pain and when Eliza had an anklet that she temporarily lost it in a sock she became fractious and unsettled again.

Baltic amber contains an analgesic substance called succinic acid which is released by the beads in response to the warmth of the child’s body and absorbed through the skin.

The Baltic region is known as the home of amber this is because it has the largest deposits of amber in the world which is known as Baltic amber. This region is believed to have been producing amber for over 40 million years it has been well established that the forest area in the Baltic region has created more than 100,000 tonnes of amber and contains the largest concentration of succinic acid than any other amber.

Amber teething jewellery should never be chewed, as it is believed that the succinic acid being absorbed through the skin whilst your child is wearing the necklace or bracelet that helps relieve the teething discomfort.

We were sent a Baltic Amber Teething Necklace to review from www.naturalamber.co.uk – Just like any necklace, there is the possibility that it may break if enough force is used, however this teething necklace has been made with safety in mind. It is highly unlikely that a baby or toddler will have the strength to break it themselves but the necklace is double knotted either side of each bead – so if the necklace does happen to break, only one of the very small beads will fall off.

In the unlikely event that the bead is swallowed, amber is non-toxic. The clasp on the amber teething necklace consists of a screw clasp for added safety and because the beads are supposed to sit on the skin and not be chewed, the necklace length is short – so it doesn’t hang down like usual necklaces, which would make them easy to catch on things. Sebastian doesn’t even realise its on or go to grab it but I do take it off before he goes to bed for my own peace of mind.

I have read countless articles stating it doesn’t work, but Isaac, Eliza and Sebastian have all seemed calmer and less fretful when teething whilst wearing Baltic Amber.

Have you tried it?

  7. I’ve always been obsessed with amber, since my Mum read me a book about a little boy who found some. I finally got a pendant for my 16th birthday. Had no idea it had such properties, do you think it will help any aches and pains?!
