Sebastian’s 16 month update

I haven’t done an update on Sebastian’s progress for a while as there was nothing really to tell.  He had his MMR last month and it really knocked him for six, he was grumpy and not himself for at least three weeks.

My happy boy is now back though and his progress in the last two weeks has been amazing to watch.

*PROUD MUM ALERT*

Sebastian is WALKING!!!!!!!!

It has been a long time coming, and I have been willing him to take his first steps for what feels like months, but he has finally done it.  Last week we went from 1 to 2 steps and yesterday he managed 5!

OK, so he is not charging around the lounge just yet, but his confidence is building.  He has been desperate to get out of his buggy and join in the fun with Isaac and Eliza in the last week so the incentive it there.

Then there is his talking.  He has been burbling and pointing for ages, with no definable words other than Dad.  He has finally managed to call me Mama, he calls Kian (or KiKi) and even manages Isaac.  He also says cat and most randomly light, but it is as if someone has switched that light bulb on and he is so inquisitive!

16 months

The only problem with the onset of walking is the climbing has also begun!  I have found him on the sofa a few times and he has no fear.  If the kids don’t shut the stair gate, he is up those stairs like a shot and he even climbs his toys!

Toy wise, he adores cars and loves nothing more than racing them around the lounge.  He also is a huge fan of balls and is brilliant at rolling them directly to you and back.  He is also rather fond of knocking down towers, but nothing beats the swing.  You only have to look at his face to know that the swing is the best thing in the world!

We have also discovered the delights of drinking through a straw and he got his first taste of Fanta last week thanks to his big brother.  His face was a picture!

But for now, I give you his first steps!

  1. Lovely to see – I remember my eldest walked about the same on his 1st birthday. I saw it but mumsie was in the kitchen so i called her out and he did it again for her. Some walk earlier, some later but it is so satisfying and a joyous moment – you will have problems now though because he’ll be all over the place and into everything!!!!!
