If you haven’t seen the new Vanish adverts with loads of hints and tips for removing even the most stubborn of stains, where have you been?
Being a family of 7, we have to contend with all sorts of stains from Baked Beans to Grass, Pen marks to paint so when I was sent some Vanish Stain Remover to review I was over the moon!
Being Sod’s Law, all of a sudden my children remained clean, tidy and stain free for what seemed like an eternity so I couldn’t try it out! In the end it was me that managed to spill curry down one of my favourite tops and then hubby did exactly the same thing!
One of the best tips for getting stains out is not to leave them to dry on clothing, so both tops went straight in the wash with my normal non-bio washing powder, fabric softener and a scoop of Vanish Oxi Action.
I am happy to report that both stains came out, much to my relief!

I also had hubby’s washing to do from his trip to Vegas, which contained a lots of whites. Boys on the beer (and wine) in Vegas doesn’t make for a stain free trip, so I added a scoop of the Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White to the wash and was impressed by how crisp, fresh and stain free the load came out.
I did also give the Crystal White a go on Kian and Isaac’s greying white school shirts, but unfortunately they are too far gone. I will however use it every wash when they get their new ones next term as it promises to keep them white.
All in all I am impressed with the Vanish Oxi Action – anything that saves me from stains has got to be good and I love the Stain Solutions part of their website with lots of hints and tips on how to get rid of even dried on stains including how to get rid of coffee stains. They have tips for red wine stains too!
My next challenge is to try their carpet Power Powder as the workmen have managed to stain the carpet when putting in my new bathroom. I will let you know how I get on!!
Ooh never tried the carpet stuff – how did that go? I’ve personally been using professionals myself (I searched for carpet cleaning birmingham and carpet cleaning sutton coldfield but I think there are quite a few more)… would love to hear your advice please?!
